Die Erklärung von DaKriss ist schon ganz ok. Am besten probierste einfach mal bisschen rum. Dann wirste schon merken was passiert.

Wo wir grad beim Thema Effektgeräte sind. Ich hab an meinem (Zoom1010) einen Effekt der wird DBL abgekürzt. Der ist in der gleichen Kategorie wie Chorus und Flanger. Allerdings hör ich bei dem nicht wirklich, was da passiert. Weiss einer wozu das ist?
