Nur weil du an einen 30W-Amp eine große Box hängst heißt das nicht, dass es dadurch lauter (->mehr leistung) wird.
Ich denke zum Üben wäre sicher ein Modeling-Preamp nicht falsch, man kann so auch mal nur mit Kopfhörern spielen (falls Nachbarn, Eltern, Geschwister o.ä. Stress wegen Lautstärke machen).
Den Preamp könnte man dann auch an eine Endstufe anschließen und damit die Box befeuern (wenn man im Preamp dann die Boxen-Simulation deaktiviert).

Allerdings geht im Metalbereich nix über nen guten Röhrenamp. Das klingt einfach besser und direkter, außerdem hat man so in der Regel auch gleich die passende Lautstärke parat.
